Health
Living healthy is part of the quality of life. Our health program is designed
to help students with general knowledge of nutrition, personal hygiene and habits,
and moral strength in coping with everyday stress.
Credits: 5 each
Prerequisite: 50% in previous course level
Health: grades 1 through
10
Health is a required course involving the
study of health-related topics pertinent to post secondary students. Topics
covered will include: fitness and exercise, personal health and hygiene,
use and abuse of legal and illegal drugs, first aid and safety, psychology,
nutrition, and disease and disorders.
Career and Life Management
(CALM): grade 11
CALM is a compulsory course designed to introduce
sex education to senior students. Students are required to have parental
permission to attend this course. The CALM curriculum is organized into
three major units:
- Personal Choices
- Resource Choices
- Life Choices
Emphasis is placed on individual decision-making
and goal setting throughout the course. Included in the Personal Choices
unit is a sexuality component.
